I'm Sandrine Coosemans! I'm originally from Belgium and now spend most of my time on an off-grid almond and olive farm in Aragon, Spain.

After university, I started my career in the family business but after a decade of that, I decided to find more opportunities in the corporate world. Which was great when I lived in Brussels, where being multilingual is a real asset; however, when I moved to Amsterdam to be with my now-husband, I couldn't find a job I could really feel passionate about. So in 2011, I started my own business as a personal/virtual assistant to media entrepreneurs. That business allowed us to move to Spain in 2014, which also meant I took my business 100% online, servicing international clients as a social media manager/strategist. When I started subcontracting some of the work to other freelancers in 2018, it slowly grew into an agency, which enabled me to focus on my clients' big-picture marketing strategy.

With a French first name and a Belgian/Flemish last name, "Sandrine Coosemans" is not easy to remember for an international audience; as my Instagram posts often feature our animals (chickens, dogs, cats, and also alpacas) people started referring to me as "the person with the llamas". So when I had to find a name for our agency, Mellissa Wheeler came up with the name "Smart Alpaca" - and that name caught on.

When I'm not client calls or working on someone's strategy, you can often find me chasing chickens from my veggie garden, trying to keep the alpacas out of the neighbour's vineyard, or playing Civilization IV. I'm also a lifelong Terry Pratchett fan and I devour sci-fi and fantasy books, movies and TV shows whenever I can.
